Music from the Information Age
About
Bold, rhythmic, and unexpectedly familiar, this program explores the soundtrack of a world transformed by machines, media, and an endless flow of information. Steve Reich and Philip Glass capture the hypnotic pulse of modern life, while inventive arrangements of Radiohead’s Everything in Its Right Place and Laurie Anderson’s iconic O Superman blur the boundaries between classical music, electronic experimentation, and pop.

Music from the Gilded Age
About
Visit the Gilded Age, an era of dazzling growth, grand ambitions, and extraordinary musical creativity. Selections from Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Dvořák, and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor reveal the warmth and expressive power of the late-Romantic string quartet tradition, while popular music of the 1870s to the late 1890s pepper the performance. Elegant, spirited, and full of contrast, this program captures an age where refinement met exuberance—and the concert hall met the street.

Music from the Jazz Age
About
Welcome to the Jazz Age, where rhythm takes center stage with the irresistible energy of American popular music. Favorites from the Great American Songbook, including Gershwin’s Lady Be Good and Fascinatin’ Rhythm and Fats Waller’s Ain’t Misbehavin’, capture the wit, swing, and sophistication of a defining musical era. The program also looks beyond the 1920s and ’30s, tracing jazz’s lasting influence through the music of contemporary composers, including Spartanburg’s own John Moody. Stylish, lively, and full of personality, this concert celebrates a distinctly American sound that continues to evolve.
