History & Mission

The rich musical history of Spartanburg has its roots in the 19th century. Famed musicians, orchestras, and conductors from metropolitan centers performed here, inspiring a community group of top-notch talent to create an organization that shares a love of music with our city.

What began as a volunteer orchestra called the Spartanburg Symphony has now grown into a beloved community favorite for all things music. The Spartanburg Philharmonic offers community outreach, educational programs, and innovative symphony series programming for generations of music lovers to enjoy.

Today more than ever, we strive to enrich, inspire, and educate through live performances of high-quality music.
