Espresso No. 4: Saxoccino
For the finale of our Espresso Series, the SPO is pleased to present the Assembly Quartet in concert along with Spartanburg's own saxophone legend, Tom Wright! The program will range from traditional classical repertoire to fresh new works for saxophone quartet.

From Star Wars to Harry Potter: The Music of John Williams
Under the baton of guest conductor John Young Shik Concklin, the iconic film scores of John Williams will come to life in the concert hall! From adventure to romance to tragedy, Williams has worked his magic for 60 years setting the tone to countless movies and television shows. His scores have influenced generations of musicians and music-lovers, and the SPO is excited to present a few of his best known works for the silver screen.

Espresso No. 3: Cafe Damour
A Valentine’s Day celebration featuring our pianist Kuo-Pei Cheng-Lin and string quartet performing favorite, romantic classical and pop melodies.

Scott Seaton conducts: Tchaikovsky no. 4
The SPO’s “Project Maestro” concludes with Scott Seaton conducting the extraordinary Symphony no. 4 by Tchaikovsky. The concert will open with Rossini’s “Overture from Il Signor Bruschino” and will feature the outstanding soloist Andrew Sords in Mozart’s Concerto for Violin no. 5 “Turkish.”

Espresso No. 2: French Press
The Espresso Series continues with an eclectic blend of music for woodwinds and brass. From Françaix's bluesy L’heure du Berger, "Pin-up Girls" to Debussy's ragtime Golliwog's Cakewalk to Stravinsky's masterpiece Octet for Woodwind Instruments, this program offers something for everyone!

This concert will include the world premiere of a new work by Spartanburg based composer, Nolan Stolz (USC Upstate)

Patrick Dupré Quigley conducts: Sibelius no. 2
The Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra is in the process of hiring a new conductor, and we’re counting on the audience to help us decide! The SPO’s “Project Maestro” continues with Patrick Dupré Quigley conducting the epic Symphony no. 2 by Sibelius.

Espresso No. 1: Chaplin au Lait
The SPO is pleased to present Charlie Chaplin’s 1921 silent film “The Kid” with live musical accompaniment featuring a mixed ensemble of strings, woodwinds, piano, and percussion from the Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra.

Stefan Sanders Conducts: Beethoven no. 5
The SPO kicks off its 2017-2018 season, Project Maestro, with guest conductor Stefan Sanders conducting two of the greatest symphonies in Western Art music.
