Edgewise

Edgewise, comprised of Jon Grier, Vee Popat, Ian Bracchitta and Duane Malphrus is a Greenville based ensemble, all veteran performers in many idioms and teachers of many years. Jon Grier is a composer of many works in different genres and may be found at newertunes.com . He is now faculty Emeritus of the Greenville Fine Arts Center where he taught theory, harmony and composition for decades. Vee Popat is a multi-Reed specialist and is also the director of Greenville’s Fine Arts Center. Ian Bracchitta performs in the classical, jazz and popular idioms and is the principal bass of the Spartanburg Philharmonic. He has performed with dozens of national tours and artists at the Peace Center since 1990. He teaches at the SC Governor’s School and Furman University. Duane Malphrus has played with numerous jazz and rock ensembles over the years in the southeast and now has a large private studio of drum students. For jazz fusion fans here in the upstate you might remember Jon, Duane and Ian as members of the band, Oracle, that performed frequently in the tri-state area.
