The Coco Flute Choir is a vibrant flute ensemble from Converse University’s School of Music, led by flutist and professor Dr. Chris Vaneman. Featuring talented student musicians, the group explores a wide range of music written and arranged for flutes of all shapes and sizes — creating a rich, shimmering sound that’s both dynamic and fun.

Join us for Music Sandwiched In on April 16th as we welcome a trio of the Upstate’s finest jazz musicians. Bassist Ian Bracchitta, drummer Justin Watt, and pianist John Moody bring years of performing experience to the stage — from symphony halls and Broadway pits to jazz clubs and touring big bands. Together, they’ll serve up a free lunchtime concert full of classic jazz tunes, creative energy, and plenty of soul. Grab your lunch and settle in for a swingin’ good time!

Ben Smith is an esteemed cellist and member of the Hendersonville Symphony, Piedmont Chamber Orchestra, and Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra. Always looking for new musical adventures, Cellosmith thrives in classical music while also exploring pop, jazz, traditional, and other genres as well.

Finn Again will perform an eclectic collection of Celtic tunes and songs that will have you stomping your feet and clapping your hands to the whirlwind of the music.  The band’s repertoire weaves pieces written as long as 300 years ago with modern tunes to create a unique aural landscape reflecting a collective Celtic heritage.

Dean of the School of the Arts at Converse University, Christopher Vaneman and Professor of Oboe and Music History, Kelly Vaneman are bringing their musicality and established style to the MSI stage once again!

Dorman High School Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Arlyn Mills will be performing selections from their concerto concert.

The Bluegrass Committee Band is at it again! Join us for a lunchtime concert featuring the finest and most handsome bluegrass band this side of the Pacolet River.

WireWood consists of Laura Koelle and Keith Groover, a cello/guitar duo from Greenville, SC, specializing in instrumental versions of rock and pop songs.

Join us for a delightful Music Sandwiched In concert featuring the Converse University Woodwinds, led by principal oboist Kelly Vaneman.

Nathan Shirley presents a look at music for silent films, focusing on the 1922 classic adaptation of Bram Stoker's "Dracula." Performing live with scenes from the movie, Mr. Shirley's interpretations are entertaining, educational, and fun!

Music Director John Young Shik Concklin plays piano and leads an ensemble of fellow musician friends for a delightful afternoon of music at the library. More details to come!

Join us for a truly heartwarming and incredible program!

The traditional Celtic sounds of the Reel Sisters will transport you to the lush, rolling hills of Scotland. With a dash of Appalachian influence, sisters Kelly and Rosalind stir the hearts and delight the ears of listeners with their harp and smallpipes duo. Compelling tunes combine with The Sisters' approachable, lighthearted personalities to create a unique and intimate musical experience. The Reel Sisters' music is uplifting, stirring, and just sweet fun.

The Spartanburg Philharmonic flute section is bringing their beautiful sound to MSI. Listen to the beautiful blend of Rhea Jacobus, Sally Frick, and Brennan Szafron’s sweet harmonies and peaceful lyricism, combined with instantaneous expressive control. Their liquid sound will sweep you away!

Tom Wright’s Cat & Mouse Ensemble is coming to shake up MSI again and we couldn’t be more excited! Always a fan-favorite, the band’s style and energy fuel the audience. Hear some of your favorite jazz and pop hits and come on a musical trip as the band’s first album, “Notes From The Journey” guides us through their tuneful travels!

A Recorder Sampler: Journey through time and hear instrumentation from the Baroque era when Southwind makes their Music Sandwiched In debut. Enjoy a brief and informative historical survey from the 16th to 20th century, and help us make 2024’s first MSI a special one!

On March 23rd we’re partnering with our friends over at the Spartanburg Little Theatre as we present our Best of Broadway concert, but we thought it would be a treat for you if they brought some glits and glam to the Music Sandwiched In stage!

Celtic Classics, sing-a-longs, and a traditional Irish feel- Laurel and the Lads return to Music Sandwiched In and they want to see and hear you! They’ve been bringing a unique blend of Irish music and rock ‘n’ roll hits to a variety of venues around the Upstate since its formation in 1997 and you’re sure to see why the demand is high!
