Kordell Hemphill first joined the Spartanburg Philharmonic as a summer intern in July of 2021. Through his internship, he gained knowledge on different methods of promotion and publication while also providing his perspective on many social campaigns. His passion for music and the arts started at a very young age as he began singing and performing in elementary school.

In 2020, Kordell was a recipient of the Who's Who award given out annually through the university for students who had an outstanding grade point average, participated and demonstrated leadership in academic and extracurricular activities, and were involved in citizenship and service to the GWU community. Throughout his college career, Kordell has played in Gardner-Webb theater productions of Stephan Sondheim's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Howard Ashman's Little Shop of Horrors, and Rick Elice's Peter and the Starcatcher. He also presented two joint vocal recitals, acted as a section leader and soloist in the auditioned Concert Choir at GWU, and was a featured vocalist with countless instrumental ensembles.

After completing his internship, Kordell graduated on the Dean's list and gained his Bachelor's of Music. He joined the team officially at the beginning of 2022 and has moved full speed ahead ever since. Making the most with each post, and doing his best to get the word out about our wonderful organization, Kordell has made it his mission to assist us in bringing LIVE music to Burg!
