Kathryn Boucher has served as Executive Director of the Spartanburg Philharmonic since 2014, leading one of South Carolina's most historic and dynamic arts organizations through a period of remarkable growth and innovation. Working in partnership with the Board of Directors, she advances the Philharmonic's mission to enrich, inspire, and educate the community through exceptional live musical experiences. Under her leadership, the organization has significantly expanded its artistic programming, educational initiatives, and community engagement while strengthening its financial foundation in preparation for its centennial season.
A Greenville, SC native, Kathryn earned bachelor's degrees in Finance and Art History from Wofford College, a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from Winthrop University, and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University. She began her arts administration career as a Development Officer with the Mint Museums in Charlotte, NC, launching more than two decades of nonprofit leadership focused on advancing the arts through strategic growth, fundraising, and community partnerships.
Kathryn is an active leader in the arts community at the local, state, and national levels. She is a graduate of Leadership Spartanburg, Leadership South Carolina, Leadership Bluegrass with IBMA, the Riley Institute's South Carolina Diversity Leaders Initiative at Furman University, the Women's Leadership Institute at Furman University, and the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Regional Fellows program. In 2017, she was selected as one of just twelve arts administrators nationwide to participate in the League of American Orchestras' prestigious Emerging Leaders Program.
She currently serves as Vice President for Groups 5–6 on the Board of Directors of the League of American Orchestras and as Secretary of the South Carolina Arts Alliance Board of Directors. Kathryn is passionate about ensuring that the arts remain vibrant, accessible, and relevant, believing that arts and culture strengthen communities, inspire creativity, and enrich lives across generations.
