The Post and Courier: Spartanburg Philharmonic gets new music director

SPARTANBURG — One of the oldest arts organizations in Spartanburg is in its 95th season and has a new music director.

John Young Shik Concklin will lead Spartanburg Philharmonic as its tenth music director.

“There’s so much exciting work already happening in Spartanburg not only in the city but also the music community,” Concklin said. “There’s a legacy of high quality performances, collaboration and creativity that doesn’t exist in a lot of places.”
