Music Tells A Story: Soundtrack to Your Bookish Adventures

The intersection between different forms of art should always be celebrated, and our first concert of the season, Scheherazade and Other Tales, is all about the interaction of books, story-telling, and music. Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade tells the story of the titular character based on the stories in The One Thousand and One Nights (aka Arabian Nights). Furthermore, music can evoke the same feelings of a novel, without having a nominal or direct connection. “Book playlists” are curated by readers and authors to give more insight into the world of the novel. Typically, British singer-songwriter Adele and F. Scott Fitzgerald wouldn’t be paired together, yet readers of The Great Gatsby relate Adele’s hit Someone Like You to the struggles of Jay Gatsby and his love for an already married woman, Daisy.
