A Latin Flavor: Guest Soloist, Pepe Romero
In a splendid mix of Spanish flavored music, the SPO celebrates Cinco de Mayo with music by Manuel de Falla, Heitor Villa-Lobos, and even a little Mozart. Legendary soloist Pepe Romero brings the timeless Rodrigo Aranjuez concerto to Sparkle City!
Espresso #3: Caffe' Americano
Featuring the "top brass," the SPO offers an evening of All-American music ranging from the Revolutionary War to the 21st century. The orchestra's brass quintet will perform hymns, fantasies, dances, and even a little ragtime in another fun and lighthearted one-hour Espresso Concert!

Espresso #2: French Roast
Along with guest pianist, Dr. Elizabeth Child, the woodwinds of the SPO delve into South American and French selections in an expressive and eclectic mix of music. The program will feature works by Ibert, Poulenc, D'Rivera and even a little Mozart.
An Enigmatic Evolution
The SPO is proud to premiere "Dreamtime Ancestors," written by critically acclaimed composer Christopher Theofanidis.
Then, Kristin Lee will perform the hauntingly beautiful "Violin Concerto" by Jean Sibelius. Lee is a violinist of remarkable versatility and impeccable technique who enjoys a vibrant career as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician, and she was recently honored with the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant!
Sarah Ioannides will then lead the orchestra on an epic journey into the world of Edward Elgar’s "Enigma Variations" to complete a memorable evening at the symphony!
Espresso #1: German Blend
Featuring eight of the best string players in the SPO, this one-hour concert offers a delightful and entertaining blend of classical and New music. Enjoy the satisfyingly rich works of Mozart and Mendelssohn paired with a fresh piece by Spartanburg’s own Peter B. Kay.
Power and Force
Powerful masterworks combine with the electric force of Andreas Boyde in Tchaikovsky's 2nd Piano Concerto, Beethoven's 7th Symphony & Verdi's La Forza del Destino.
