Rachel Hansen joined the Spartanburg Philharmonic staff in August of 2017. Originally from Malaysia, Rachel moved to North Carolina when she was 16 years old and upon arriving to the US, remembers thinking to herself, “Wow, everyone in America is so tall!” She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Converse College with a double major in Music (piano) and Religion.
While adjusting to the new height average and culture, Rachel graduated from Charlotte Country Day School earning the prestigious Mary Helen Dalton scholarship to pursue music at Converse College. As a student, she served as historian in the international music fraternity, Delta Omicron, was a Chapman scholar that allowed her to travel abroad to Spain and France and volunteered with several local and international organizations planning events and playing the piano.
For the past six years, Rachel has had the privilege of being a part of a record-breaking enrollment team at Converse College. While on this team, Rachel pioneered the Social Media and Marketing Specialist position, was the first Assistant Director of Enrollment Marketing and Communications and led the enrollment team in a complete revamp of admissions print materials, electronic communication and united the college under one hashtag.
In her spare time, Rachel teaches piano, enjoys taking photos and stays busy with her husband and two hilarious boys. She is happy to be joining the Spartanburg Philharmonic and being around all-things-music once again.
